Random interval signal generator (RISG)

The random interval signal generator (RISG) is a simple and essential tool for carrying out work sampling studies or projects where it is not practical to document every single task and its duration.

Users set the number of times that a signal is to be generated (max 32 times an hour) and the RISG will produce the same number of audio alerts or vibrations at random intervals (maximum duration of 2 hours). The task being carried out at the time of the alert can then be documented (separately) and data can then be extrapolated to calculate the % of time spent doing X, Y and Z.

This app was developed through collaborative work with the Centre for Medication Safety and Service Quality (CMSSQ), Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and the UCL School of Pharmacy.
