RIVER HILLS CLUBThe vision of a tennis and sports facility that would be among the finest in the country became reality in the mid-60's when W.E. "Slew" Hester, a Jackson native and USTA president, became the key founder and charter member of River Hills Club. Hester was a pioneer in the explosion of tennis throughout the U.S. at that time and was instrumental in building the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., home of the U.S. Open. The vision continues today as River Hills completed an $11 million building project that takes Hester's accomplishment into the 21st century.
