This app helps new drivers record hours behind the wheel in a graduated license while learning about situations that increase the risk of an accident. Contact CCMC for an account to start using this app - it will ONLY work with a registered account. The app uses a vehicle interface device available from CCMC for connecting to 1996 and newer model year vehicles over the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) port that is typically located under the dashboard on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The installation of the device and connection to the app using Bluetooth typically takes only a few minutes. The app will guide the user through the setup after successfully logging in.When starting a drive, the new driver can open the app and put the phone down. The app automatically connects to the OBD device and providers a reminder to not use the phone while collecting important information from the vehicle’s computers in the background. Any touch inputs to the phone while driving will be detected and impact the overall safety assessment of a drive. Recommendations for improvements will be given to the driver and to parents after the drive ends. Parents or guardians can view the results in a separate web portal. Access to the portal is secured and provided by CCMC and provides a more detailed view of all the data recorded in highly customizable views.* Along with distractions, the app monitors several driving risks:- Speeding by location with speed limit data**- Rolling through stop signs - Aggressive accelerations - Accelerating near traffic lights which indicates possible red light running - Hard braking which often indicates tailgatingThe app shows locations on the map of where incidents occurred and indicates the severity. Recommendations are given after the drive based on the particular events that occurred. Along with monitoring driving risks, the app and web portal record key information needed in a graduated drivers license program in Connecticut.- Total hours driven with configurable views by trip, day, week, month - Time of day vehicle was driven (in curfew or out)- Driving alone, with parents, passengers, etcImportant Note:The app requires power for both GPS and Bluetooth connectivity and will increase the phones battery usage . It is highly recommended to only use the app when driving and to connect the charger. * While registering for this program with CCMC, the email from the driver’s phone should be provided to enable the synchronization of the driver’s data with the portal for viewing by the parent. Only the RoadMentor data for the registered new driver is only accessible by the parent or guardian through a secure login.** Speed limit data is provided by Navteq HERE(TM) and is not guaranteed to be accurate. The data is available in the following states for this application: Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York.
