Savvy Player & Dictionary brings fun into foreign language learning by using music with lyrics, videos with closed captions, poetry read aloud, books synchronized with audio/audiobooks, any kind of speech synchronized with text.

You have all dictionaries at your fingertips in the text while you listen/watch and the synchronized text follows along, Synchronized text can be lyrics of a song, subtitles of a movie or a video, transcription of a speech, books synchronized with audio in an audiobook, virtually anything).

Our dictionary features provide the maximum convenience possible: Without leaving the text, you can get translation and/or definition of any word by just tapping it (even without Internet connection, as the app has built-in downloadable English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, and Russian dictionaries), or immediately see its translations and definitions from the best online dictionaries in any language.

You can make notes in the text beside the words that you look up. Just select what you want to include in the note by tapping phrases in the dictionary. You can also review your notes in a list with features helping reviewing and memorizing, like sorts, flashcard-like features, and text-to-speech dictation so you can listen to you word lists, memorizing them while jogging, ironing, commuting, etc.

The best feature of the app is that you are not limited by any preselected content. You can use whatever audio/video/song/book/audiobook you like, anything you have on your device or anywhere on the web available for download. The same goes for the text, which can be transcription text, subtitles, lyrics, and captions, they can also be obtained from any source.

While you watch and listen, the text (not just one-liner captions) is shown alongside it. You can play the media in two modes: In the first mode (synchronization) you watch/listen and either tap the lines you hear or scroll to the place in the text that is currently playing (you can scroll approximately, it does not matter unless you want it to be precise). Savvy Player & Dictionary records your taps and scrolls, and when you play the media in the second mode (playback), it repeats your highlights and scrolling. You can play the media in the second mode as many times as you like, and the text will always follow along.

Listening and following along in the text is a powerful language learning method. It is also fun, like karaoke, especially with music. By listening to even short segments often, with repetition, you enrich your vocabulary, become fluent in the language.
