The Shipping KPI project is a joint ship management initiative to enable the most significant effort of self regulation in shipping since the introduction of the ISMA Code.

The shipping industry realized there is a need for an international standard for defining, measuring and reporting information on operational performance in shipping. To meet this need it was decided to launch the Shipping-KPI project aiming at improving the ability of the shipping industry to respond to increasing demands from society.

The Shipping KPI System proposes a global shipping industry standard for defining, measuring and reporting information on operational performance in order to:

• Boost performance improvements internally in companies engaged in the ship operation activities,

• Provide an efficient communication platform of ship operation performance to internal and external stakeholders.
