Sherpa is a GPS logger that lets you publish your logged routes for other Android owners to download, complete with photos and voice messages, and viewable on any Android device. A barcode is created for each route and Sherpa has a share option to print it or display it on a PC screen. Sherpa's built-in barcode scanner downloads routes and runs them immediately.

Routes include waypoint information and photos taken using the app. Sherpa displays routes using Google Maps, overlaying the route with waypoint and photo markers. You can add synthesised voice messages to any photo or to a route. All data is editable on your phone.

Forthcoming enhancements:

Development is under way for Sherpa to run any route as an audio walking guide, with no need to take the phone from your pocket. Although the screen shows your progress everything important is done with spoken messages. This has little effect on your phone's battery so no need to worry about losing charge.

Sherpa uses GPS to monitor your progress along a route, and it uses the phone's voice synthesiser to give you clear messages, giving essential guidance while enabling you to have the screen switched off to save power. The app is particularly useful to hotels and activity centers, who can build guides for their visitors to discover their locality without constant recourse to a map and with little chance of getting lost.
