The Shikshapatri is a religious text consisting of two hundred and twelve verses, written in Sanskrit by Bhagawan Swaminarayan. The Shikshapatri is a key scripture to all followers of Bhagawan Swaminarayan and is considered the basis of the sect.

Lord Swaminarayan, the Supreme incarnation of God, himself wrote ‘The Shikshapatri’, the epistle containing precepts meant specifically for all his devotees living in different parts of the world and generally for the welfare of all living beings (Sarva jiva Hitavaha). ‘Shiksha’ is advice given out of love, and ‘Patri’ is the parchment bearing it.
