This application plays the sounds of a ship's clock every hour and half hour. The sequence is identical to ship's bells, which are used to regulate sailors' duty watches. Unlike a regular clock, the chimes do not correspond to the number of the hour. Instead, there are eight bells, one for each half hour of a four-hour watch.

This version will cause the chimes to strike continuously until the chimes are turned off and does not have to be running for the chimes to strike.
