You, the player, are tasked with helping out Captain Shobo survive until his allies arrive to rescue him. He was sent on a mission behind enemy lines, but during the escape, the ship's engine was damaged, so it is now drifting through space. Waves of enemy pursuers try to attack the ship. However, Captain Shobo is piloting a hybrid cruiser that has a few tricks up it's sleeve to help both of you survive.

The objective of the game is to manage your ship's energy and health, in order to survive waves of enemies, until you are rescued by allied forces. To help motivate your survival, you are scored based on how well you deal with the attackers, both offensively and defensively.
