Great little app for tracking your ski runs and snowboard rides. Snowtrax uses your phone's GPS to collect vital statistics about your snow-sport activities:

- number of runs

- distance covered

- elevation change

- maximum speed

The statistics are collected for individual runs, for each day and also for the "lifetime" of the app. In case you were worried about leaving the app recording while on a ski-bus (which happens more often than you might think) do not worry: runs can be easily deleted and when your day is over you can share your achievements with your friends on facebook or twitter!

Snowtrax runs in the background or under screen lock so you can use any other (non GPS) apps while tracking your skiing. On top of all that Snowtrax allows you to analyse each of your runs in detail, including speed and altitude profile as well as a detailed map of your route. Snowtrax supports US, UK and Metric units so you would be hard pressed to find an excuse not to try it! The trial version offers full functionality, its only limited in a number of runs it displays.

Snowtrax uses sophisticated algorithms to determine what you are doing at any moment in time (skiing, sitting on a chairlift or having a break) so that it can get its numbers right. It has built in grace period when you fall and then pick yourself up, it knows when you are sitting on a chairlift going down as opposed to skiing slowly etc. For this reasons testing it while driving a car will simply not work, so please do not try it.
