Sonar is an application which uses sound to detect obstructions on the way. It uses the same physics like bats. Because application sends a short chirp with different frequencies it is insensitive for noise (the chirp is like a key, when the sound comeback to device, it compares the echo with the “key”). Sonar works in 3 modes: linear continuous, cumulative and angular. The linear one shifts the echo image with every new chirp. The cumulative one makes average from several scans for better precision. The last one uses magnetometer for device angular orientation. For maximum precision, the scale should be calibrated. The precision is about 10cm for 10m!). Additionally application has a test for frequency spectrum.
