This is a countdown timer that is specifically geared towards public speakers.

Speaker Beeper features a "Digital Mode," in which it operates exactly like a standard digital countdown timer, counting down numbers, and (if selected) giving an audible alarm at the end of the sequence.

It also features a "Podium Mode," in which the only display is three steady "lights." These change at designated "thresholds," from green (keep talkin'), to yellow (better start windin' things up, chum), to red (time to shut yer yap).

No audible alarm is given when the Podium Mode sequence is complete. The red "light" simply flashes. The whole idea is to avoid the distraction created by a constantly-moving numerical display.
