Wireless Emergency Alerts are free wireless notifications that are delivered to your mobile device as part of a new public safety system provided by Authorized Senders. They are designed to inform you of imminent threats to safety or missing person alerts in your area. Customers have the ability to retrieve the full text associated with alerts, changing alerting tones, and opt out of specific alert types (excluding Presidential alerts).

There are 3 types of emergency alerts:

*AMBER Alerts: Receive an alert when children go missing in your area.

* Imminent Threat Alerts: Receive an alert when there may be an imminent threat to the safety of those in your specific area.

* Presidential Alerts: Receive and alert directly from the president.

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) are also referred to as Personal Localized Alerting Network (PLAN) or Commercial Mobile Alerting System (CMAS) alerts in other media or applications.
