This application is intended to assist Thermographers in selecting the correct emissivity values on their thermal camera. Emissivity values affect the recorded temperature of an object by the thermal camera. An incorrect emissivity value will lead to misleading/incorrect temperature values being recorded on the thermal camera.

It should also be noted that materials with a low emissivity value (i.e. <0.4) should be treated with care as these materials are good reflectors of thermal energy (similar to a mirror). When a material has a low emissivity value, the best method of measuring the temperature of the object is to apply a single layer of black 3M electrical tape over a small area and use an emissivity value of approximately 0.96.

This application is a great tool to accompany users that own Flir Infrared Cameras who require quick access to different emissivity values in the field.
