The Color of War presents authentic color photographs from World War II. With The Color of War you will browse several different categories of photos including Home Front, Personnel, Fighters, Bombers and Vehicles.

Many people think of World War II as a war "fought in black and white" but there are actually thousands of surviving color photographs from the period. All these stunning photographs are accompanied by detailed captions containing the historic context of each photograph.

Many of the photos in the collection were taken by amateur photographers who carried their 35mm cameras into combat. Others were taken by professional photographers hired by the war department.

This free application includes 10 sample photographs, 2 in each of the main categories, to give you a taste for what is available through the purchasable add-on packs. The add-on packs provide many more photos to fill out the categories. More photo packs will be added to the in-app store on a regular basis.
