TimeRings is a clock utility application that displays time with a fresh new approach. The progress of time is viewed as a series of revolving rings that are animated in unison with the changing time. The seconds ring is constantly ticking off the seconds, then when the minute or hour increments the corresponding rings will “jump” to the next increment. These jumps can be animated so that they are smooth, or they can act more like a clock tick with a hard jump.In addition to displaying the time, the application will also display the current date and time zone, day of the week, and AM or PM. Additionally, if the time zone is currently in a locale with daylight savings, then a DST indicator is shown to inform the user that daylight savings is being observed.The time display can be maximized by hiding the seconds ring, which results in the enlargement of the hour and minute rings to increase the display size of the time values and the rings. The time display also increases when the device is rotated to landscape mode, maximizing the use of available screen real estate.The clock is designed to make it easy to be used as a bedside nightstand clock, to support this it has controls that make it easy to dim the screen at night. Using this feature allows the user to reduce the display brightness by making a simple swiping gesture on the screen. A setting is also provided that allows the user to turn off the auto locking of the screen so that it stays on indefinitely.A number of settings are provided that allow the user to configure the clock display to their needs. All of these settings are accessible through the settings built into the application. The settings are accessed by tapping on the INFO button in the bottom right corner of the screen. This will switch the display to the settings making it easy to customize the display of the clock face.The clock can be viewed in either portrait or landscape orientation.
