An interactive key for botanists to identify the common trees of the British Isles. (Currently not working with Android Version 4)

This program has been developed as part of a collaboration between the University of Manchester Faculty of Life Sciences and the Manchester Museum. The key is based on a classic key by Bentham and Hooker and uses various tree features to allow identification of common, native British trees. The key does require a certain amount of technical knowledge and may require use of a hand lens. However, a glossary is provided to help learners become familiar with terminology. Beginners may wish to start by identifying familiar or easily distinguished trees.

The Android version of the key was developed by Alyssa Smith, with technical help from Myles Smith. A web based version is available at:
