WINSTAR is the fastest way to get the Ground Speed and Heading Deviation for Pilots.

WINDSTAR is used in diversion calculations. Normally a WIND STAR is drawn on a FLIGHT PLAN for quick diversion calculations while flying.

You simply enter the required increment (in degrees), the wind speed, wind direction, and the TAS. The program displays the Ground Speed and the corrections to heading. The display is in the form of a table where the first column is the increment, second column is the Ground Speed, and the third column is the Heading.

By knowing the Deviation in heading, a pilot can calculate the required heading in a diversion. Also, by knowing the Ground Speed the pilot can calculate the ETA from a knowledge of the distance to fly.
