Rusty’s Adventures is a collection of stories that children can relate to in their everyday lives. Children can expect something to happen in each story. It is a reading program that is based on the Singapore Ministry of Education Preschool Curriculum Framework. Each book teaches the concept of literacy, numeracy or environmental awareness.

What is the purpose of this project Rusty’s Adventures?

The purpose of these readers is to encourage early literacy in children starting from their preschool years. When children are able to read, it gives them a head start in school. When stories are interesting and based on familiar settings, children will be motivated to read and thus nurture a love for books.

What are the readers about?

The readers are a mixture of fun stories, written based on settings that children are familiar with. Children can relate to them easily and the stories are filled with humour and a sense of adventure. Concepts of literacy, numeracy or environmental awareness will be introduced. The detailed and playful illustrations will motivate children to read over and over again. There are comprehension activities after each book. Comprehension is the ultimate purpose of reading.
