Where I Am lets you send your location to any mobile phone contact in your contact list, including yourself, one or more Twitter contacts, and/or a single Facebook contact one time or on a regular basis. It’s a simple way to track a mobile device, anybody in possession of it, or let the world know where you are.

For instance, it can be a crude device tracker if you are looking for the area where you have misplaced the phone. It can also be used to track your kids or other loved ones. Also, if someone is coming to you from a long or short distance, then they could give you an idea of their progress on a regular basis, or it can be used as a beacon to locate you.

The locations will continue to be sent even after the device goes to sleep and will wake it up only for as long as it takes to get a location and as long as it takes to send a text. For instance, if you are sending your location to two contacts, one every 5 minutes and one every 10 minutes, the phone will wake up every 5 minutes to request the location.

The Twitter and Facebook functionality can only post the location of the device to Twitter and Facebook accounts. It does not read them, and it does not know the username or password, nor can it figure them out. Any phone contacts that are added are only available to Where I Am. They are not entered into the contact list of the device.
