WhistleMaeven listens to you while you practice the penny whistle. It uses the microphone in your phone to detect the notes you are playing. When you get it right you get some positive feedback.

This application has a 2 day free trial period and then it will stop working. You will need to purchase and install WhistleMaevenKey to get full unrestricted access. Basically that should be enough time to make sure that your phone & whistle work properly with the application.

You will need a penny whistle that is tuned for the key of 'D'.

There are three simple lessons. The first one just presents the scale. When you play a note on the whistle, the note on the music staff lights up. This is just a gentle introduction to the instrument.

The second lesson shows you 'flashcards' of musical notes (random excerpts of practice tunes). This helps to build sight reading skills.

The third lesson is actually playing the pre-selected tunes. The music for each tune is presented on the phone display. As it detects your playing it scrolls the music (hands free for you).

For the first release the three included practice tunes are:

* The Minstrel Boy - Irish standard

* Garry Owen - 7th Cavalry theme

* Sou Gan - slow Welsh lullaby
