An encryption key that is derived ONLY from an 8 character password can be broken in about 2.5 Hours! The WhiteStoneS217 Data Encryption Application methodology ADDS 3 more parameters and extends the "time-to-break" from 2.5 Hours to over 3 Million Years based on the same initial 8 character password.
What makes the WhiteStoneS217 Data Encryption Application unique is the method by which the encryption key is generated. The WhiteStoneS217 key generation methodology does not rely solely on password hashing to create the encryption key. Key generation schemes that use passwords as the only entropy into the creation of an encryption key are BROKEN and not secure. Don't get fooled into a false sense of security.
NEW FEATURE - Introducing file encryption with the optional capability to append the encrypted file to a "Transport File". Single files can be encrypted or decrypted as standalone files using the generated key. After the file has been encrypted or decrypted, a new file is generated in the same location as the selected file. As an obfuscation measure, a file can be encrypted and appended to a “Transport File”. When the encrypted file is appended to a Transport File, the general public can see and open the transport file without knowing that an encrypted file is “riding along with it”. Using the WhiteStoneS217 File tab to perform file decryption, the Transport File is automatically removed and the intended recipient can recover and decrypt the encrypted file. Note that, at this time, the decrypted file will carry the “name” of the Transport File post decryption but will have the original file’s “TYPE” associated with it.
The WhiteStoneS217 Data Tab allows you to encrypt data that is typed or pasted into a text box. After encryption, the encrypted data is automatically copied to the clipboard so that it can be easily transferred to other applications such as email, SMS text, notes, or files. The same holds true for the decryption process.
The WhiteStoneS217 Data Encryption Application uses the AES algorithm natively provided by an Android phone/tablet. If the hardware platform supports the JAVA Cryptographic Extension (JCE), the application will support 256-bit encryption. If not, the application will revert to the 128-bit capability provided by exportable Android phones/tablets. The WhiteStoneS217 Data Encryption Application allows users with JCE supported platforms to "dummy down" their key generation process so that encrypted communications with users who have non-JCE supported platforms can still occur.
Every effort has been made to simplify the use of the WhiteStoneS217 Data Encryption Application so that, given a few practice attempts, you will be generating keys and encrypting/decrypting data with ease.
