What is Wydup?

Wydup is a playground for PEOPLE who go PLACES. Places such as work, the local pub, club, restaurants, car wash, shopping centre, uni/college….. and so on. Connect to a digital social scene happening around you in real time. Discover events happening in places nearby that would previously have gone unnoticed and check-in to be part of it. A few clicks and your friends know where you’ll be. A few more and you’ve organised an event. Meet up with your friends and make new connections at places you’re at.

Not using Wydup? You’re not part of the next revolution in social media.

Social Networking is everywhere and it’s awesome, but as this social footprint grows our social lives become more and more digital. My team and I have risked it all to create a different type of Social media called Wydup that’s all about changing the way society connect and interact. A Network that provides MASSIVE amounts of interaction with friends and new connections without the digital footprint or privacy concerns of other Social Networks.

It’s an experiment in freedom and a celebration of fun.

Wydup loves PRIVACY. Wydup uses aliases to hide names and emoji to hide faces. If and when you post some pictures you know they’ll get destroyed over a short time or when you checkout. Just one of the many built in ‘privacy by design’ principles that make Wydup different.

Feature List

- Say what you’re UP4, where you’re going and what you’re doing

- Check-in to a place

- Add a Selfie that disappears (after 12 hours)

- Put your photo on the map with a Place photo

- Hide your name with an ALIAS

- Chat to new connections at the same place

- Broadcast to everyone when you’re checked in

- Add Connections without swapping numbers or last names

- Stop Fake check-ins. Must be at location to check in (IN DEVELOPMENT)

- Chats aren’t kept, say what you like, just have fun.

Here’s how you can use Wydup – 3 real life scenarios:

Scenario 1 – CHANGE OF PLAN- You’re out for the night but it’s not the best crowd so you pull out your phone. With a few quick glances at the Wydup photo boards you see two places down the road that look OK. In a couple of swipes you signal to your friends and connections that you’re up4 either of the venues. A person you connected with 2 weeks ago and two of your good mates see this and say they’re up4 this place also. Turns out to be the best night you’ve had for ages, all organised spur of the moment without broadcasting your activity to the world.

Scenario 2- FISH OUT OF WATER – You’re in a new city for work and looking to cut loose with a few drinks, only you’re by yourself and don’t know where to go. A quick look at the Wydup newsfeed suggests a few places in the area that have activity and you decide to check one out. You arrive and the place has a great vibe. A quick shout out to the Wydup crowd saying “Is this place any good?” and next you know you’re exchanging stories with a group of people that work in your building after connecting via Wydup a few moments ago.

Scenario 3 – CLOSING TIME – The night is young and you’ve got plenty of time before you have to sleep. The lights come on and you start looking for a destination to continue the fun. A quick scan of Wydup People You Know shows some are going to another place in the city and some to a local party down the road. After some quick talking via chat you find that you know the friend of the guys having the party and you and your friends can come along. Problem solved.
