One in eight women in the UK will get breast cancer in their lifetime. The earlier the cancer is found, the better the chance of beating it. This app will help women be breast aware and could make all the difference.
The app includes a breast check video demonstrating how women can check their breasts, the ability to set your own reminders for a breast check, and a risk report to assess how your lifestyle could affect your risk of getting breast cancer.
The app also contains information about Breakthrough Breast Cancer and offers you a number of ways to get involved and help us continue our pioneering work in the fight against breast cancer.
Edith Bowman, DJ & presenter said, "My mum survived breast cancer, we were lucky to catch it so early, so the work that Breakthrough Breast Cancer does is incredibly close to my heart. Many women aren't checking their breasts because they either don't think they are at risk, don't know how to check themselves or just simply forget to do it. It's fantastic that Breakthrough Breast Cancer has developed iBreastCheck specifically with all these considerations in mind, I'll have it to remind me to check and hopefully thousands of women will do the same."
iBreastCheck was the winner of the New Media Age Effectiveness Awards 2011 (Charity and Voluntary Sector), and a finalist in the Technology4Good Awards 2011; Marketing Week Engage Awards 2011 (Charity and Voluntary Sector); CIPR Excellence Awards 2011 (Healthcare category); Third Sector Excellence Awards 2011 (Best Use of Digital); PR Week Awards 2011 (Not for Profit category); and Charity Times Awards 2011 (Best Use of Technology).
