theMathematician was originally created in 2012 as the product for Synapse Solutions; a company in the Young Enterprise competition in the UK. It went on to win the "Product Quality Award" at the Humber region finals, and Synapse won two other awards as well.

The other members of the original Syanpse team were Tiarnne Morgan, Sura Hassan, Sammy Hassan and Zach Azaz.
