This version of the Color Match app is optimally designed to fit the Nexus Four screen which is 768 x 1280 pixels, 4.7 inches. It should also work properly on other phones with similar screen sizes. There are two other versions, Color Match (480 x 800 pixels, 3.7 inches)and Color Match for Tablet (800 x 1280 pixels, 7.0 inches)which fit those screen sizes and pixel dimensions.

The Color Match app is used for selecting appropriate matching colors. This is mostly intended for fashion coordination but can also be used for interior decorating, graphic design, weaving, Christmas tree lights, etc.

The app uses four color matching strategies:

- matching different shades of the same hue

- adjacent colors which are 30 degrees apart on the color wheel

- complementary colors which are 180 degrees apart on the color wheel

- contrasting colors lying 120 degrees apart on the color wheel

The user first selects their basic color on a detailed color wheel. Then they then can toggle between the four matching strategies.

The app will display up to three matching colors on a swaths page that allows varying the darkness shades till an ideal match is identified.

There is also a handy reference section explaining the theory and practice of color matching.
